The CropTrak(tm) farm management software now includes a comprehensive electronic timesheet system. The new feature tracks field crew operations by task and location and allows users to generate detailed activity based cost reports.

Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) — ScanControl, Inc. today announced the release of an update to the CropTrak™ farm management software that delivers labor and resource tracking capability. New functionality now includes an electronic timesheet system that can be used on mobile computing devices in the field as well as laptop and desktop computers. The CropTrak™ software already includes a multi-language user interface and now a comprehensive timesheet management function allows users to track all resource usage in the field and easily allocate time across acreage with identification of specific task and labor crew details. The new functionality has undergone extensive field trials with several global wine producers and is being deployed as the foundation for activity based cost reporting tools. The timesheet system is available as part of the CropTrak™ software at no additional licensing cost.

“The software updates have measured up well in the multi-cultural working environment we find in California farming operations”, stated Rob Wood, Founder and CEO of ScanControl, Inc. “The data entry forms have greatly reduced timesheet management errors and have, so far, given back two to four hours per week of administrative overhead to vineyard foreman and other staff at our customer sites”, he added.

The timesheet forms allow users to capture full attendance details for each crew member or the whole crew at once. Time is tracked by task and location and the use of any equipment or material can be conveniently quantified at the same time. “One of the universal requirements our customers have is the need to track labor crew time for payroll purposes”, Wood explained. “With the ability to capture crew or individual farming activity assignment, the location where the assignment was completed, the duration of the assignment and the use of any additional resources, we find that we have a complete accounting of farming operations that can support cost analysis, regulatory and environmental certification compliance, traceability assurance, ROI assessment and streamline payroll processing,” he explained.

Data from the timesheet function is an integral component of the GIS reporting solutions that ScanControl, Inc. deliver. Near-real-time data from the field is consolidated and displayed automatically on farm maps. The maps provide a precise interpretation mechanism for identifying quality management concerns and tracking farming operations. “The GIS business intelligence reports that we deploy allow our customers to easily compare farming costs, understand the impact of each farming practice and ultimately ensure that acreage is farmed to the intended downstream supply chain needs. This means that wine producers are farming for quantity and quality parameters that are matched exactly to the wine label. When we integrate our farm management software with other supply chain management systems we end up with a complete traceability solution”, added Mr. Wood.
